Clean up efforts continue on the Kalamazoo River after an oil spill earlier this week. The spill came from a ruptured pipeline in Marshall Township in Calhoun County. That leaked oil into a creek that flows into the Kalamazoo River.

Two Congressmen who represent Southwest Michigan say they are concerned about Enbridge Energy's response to the spill.

Saint Joseph Representative Fred Upton says for now cleaning up the oil and stopping any further spread is the top priority. But he says questions about Enbridge's safety record and their response to the oil leak must be answered.

Battle Creek Congressman Mark Schauer says the response by Enbridge shows the recklessness of the company. Schauer was especially angry over the company's suggestion on Wednesday that the pipeline could be operating again in a couple of days. Federal regulators have since issued an order that operations will only be resumed after federal safety inspectors confirm that the pipeline is safe.
