“I didn’t play my horn for a long time because I just got burned out, played too many funerals,” says Kalamazoo tuba player George Forrester Sr. He plays with the Kalamazoo Concert Band. Their concert, “Through the Eyes of a Child” will be performed Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Cheney Auditorium.

Voters in Kalamazoo County will decide May 7th whether to approve a county wide transit millage. The proposal is a renewal of .04 mills for next four years. It pays for demand service known as County Connect. It also covers the line-haul service outside of the city of Kalamazoo. 

The U.S. military faces renewed pressure to prevent sexual abuse within its ranks. A documentary about the problem called The Invisible War will be shown in Kalamazoo on Monday, April 15th, and in Battle Creek on Tuesday, April 16th. The screening at Western Michigan University’s Little Theatre on Oakland Drive starts at 6:30 p.m. The Battle Creek showing in the Binda Auditorium at Kellogg Community College starts at 5:30 p.m.
