MACKINAC ISLAND - A bill to remove Michigan's ban on same sex marriage was introduced in the state Senate Wednesday, although there's little chance it will get a hearing in the Republican-controlled Legislature. Sen. Rebekah Warren, D-Ann Arbor, introduced the bill after a recent poll showed that 57% of Michigan voters support same sex marriage.
ALBION - More than 100 years of combined educational experience was let go from Albion Public Schools Tuesday as the Board of Education worked to finish a cost-cutting plan that will send its high schoolers to Marshall. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday, with Trustee Vivian Davis absent, to lay off 14 high school teachers and paraprofessionals.
