Portage School Board to reopen superintendent search

Battle Creek Parks and Recreation working on next five year plan

For the next five years, the Battle Creek Parks and Recreation Department hopes to do its part to help residents off the couch and on their feet. "We need to find a better way to leverage our physical assets," said Ted Dearing, the department's business and organizational development manager, "which include (Full Blast) but also all of our parks, and our linear trail system as well, to get people physically active."

Western Michigan University has won its second straight Mid-American Conference championship. The Broncos defeated the host Northern Illinois 4-3 Saturday in DeKalb. Western earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament with the win, they will find out their opponent on Tuesday.

As the 6-foot-8, 305-pound former Western Michigan University offensive tackle talked about signing as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans he continued to get calls from other NFL teams and his social media profiles were surging with messages and friend requests.
