Elaine Ezekiel

• Elaine is entering her senior year at Kalamazoo College. She's studying English with a media studies concentration. She's written for the student newspaper The Index, and the college's magazines BeLight and Lux Esto. As an intern with WBAI Pacifica Radio in New York, she produced an audio documentary on the Wisconsin Labor movement. In her third year at Kalamazoo College, Elaine studied abroad in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She's a native Ann Arborite who graduated from Pioneer High School.

Suzanne Elizabeth Jacobs

• Suzanne graduated from the University of Michigan in December 2011 with a B.S. in Physics.  She now does research with a professor in the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences Department at the University, running computer simulations of breaking ice shelves.  She also works for a professor in the Ross School of Business, researching and contributing to his book on social entrepreneurship.  While a student at the University, Suzanne was a news reporter for The Michigan Daily. Ultimately, she would like to combine her passion for journalism with her love of science to become a science writer.  Suzanne is very excited to be working at Michigan Radio this summer and can't wait to improve her journalism skills and learn the ins and outs of radio broadcasting.

Emily Fox

• Emily is back as a summer newsroom intern at Michigan Radio. Emily is earning her MA in Telecommunication Information Studies and Media at Michigan State University. She holds a Bachelor of Music and Music Education, also from MSU. Emily’s broad experience in radio includes hosting a weekly talk show at East Lansing’s WDBM-FM, where she has also served as News Director. Emily has worked in the newsroom at WKAR-FM in East Lansing, and served as a Contributor to WJR 760-AM in Detroit. As a DJ for WDBM-FM in East Lansing, she hosted live college alternative radio and web-streamed music shows. Emily also produced “Kings of Flint,” an award-winning documentary film about urban farming in Flint, Michigan.

Alex Schulte

• Alex is a recent University of Michigan Political Science graduate. As a board member for the Environmental Issues Commission on The Michigan Student Assembly, he contributed to research on “green” technologies on campus, including the creation of a bill to eliminate the sale of water bottles on campus. In Summer, 2011, Alex served an intern for the Vail Valley Foundation Great Start Program, in Vail, Colorado, an education program to help “at risk” children prepare for school. Alex is proficient in German.

Dr. Nishant Sekaran

• Nishant has been a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Michigan Medical School, and is a staff physician at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. He has an M.D. degree from Vanderbilt University, and an M.Science in Health Related Research from the University of Michigan. Among his peer reviewed publications are “Hot unstable angina—is it worse than subacute unstable angina?” You can schedule an office visit with Dr. Sekaran to get the answer to that question. 

Logan Chadde

• Logan is UM student entering his senior year. He's a videographer/photographer for the Michigan Daily and will lead the Daily's multimedia dept. this fall. Logan has worked on a number of multimedia and online projects for organizations such as the Michigan Environmental Council, the Michigan Nature Association, and the New America Foundation. He was a finalist in the "I Love Michigan Video Contest" featured at the 2011 Lansing Film Festival. He's also a "hyper-miler," having achieved more than 80 mpg in his used 2000 Honda Insight. He replaced the 144 volt hybrid battery himself. Logan hails from Lake Linden, a small town in the UP's Keweenaw Peninsula.

Eleanor Dumouchel

• Eleanor grew up in Montreal on a diet of Vermont Public Radio and poutine (feel free to look that up). She just graduated from U of M from the History of Art dept. and wrote her thesis on fifteenth century Netherlandish painting with a focus on Hieronymus Bosch's unique use of traditional forms of religious painting. Other recent accomplishments include an eggplant dip that she made the other night and playing a show at Woodruff's with her band Hot Boss. You can tune in to her freeform show on WCBN, Tuesdays at 1pm, for lost punk and indie gems from the late 70s, 80s and 90s.
