The Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra will play The Planets when it takes the stage in Chenery Auditorium Sunday.

KJSO conductor Andrew Koehler eloquently describes Gustav Holst’s masterwork, highlighting the ways in which it was an unusual and challenging piece when it premiered in 1918.

Mr. Koehler also recounts his prize winning experience at the 2012 GrzegorzFitelberg International Competition for Conductors. As one of forty top contestants chosen from a field of 180, he was required to be able to conduct up to eighteen scores at short notice.
