yourmusiccenter.org

The Battle Creek Community Chorus and Ars Voce are collaborating to present an ambitious program celebrating American composers this Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek.

"American Sounds" begins with Leonard Bernstein's 1965 sacred work Chichester Psalms, and continues with works from William Billings, to Randall Thompson, to folk song arrangements. Clayton Parr, director of the Battle Creek Community Chorus, and Mark Wells, director of Ars Voce, reveal details of the program and its preparation.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
