Members of Groov'tet reunite in their prime

Keith Hall

In 1993 Groov’tet, a self-propelled student jazz quartet, was formed at Western Michigan University. It launched the careers of four distinguished alumni: pianist Xavier Davis, saxophonist John Wojciechowski, bassist Matt Hughes, and drummer Keith Hall.

Keith Hall recalls the group’s unique dynamic in the early days, and anticipates an emotional, high-spirited reunion with Groov’tet next Thursday at Western Michigan University. The free concert will feature many of the group’s original tunes.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
