New KSO Assistant Conductor Makes Debut

danielbrier.com

Daniel Brier talks to Cara Lieurance about the many, varied duties of assistant conductor of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and about his debut conducting How The Grinch Stole Christmas in a sold-out performance at Chenery Auditorium.

The Wisconsin native says he's pursued conducting from a young age, encouraged by the example of his musician father. He recently graduated from the University of Michigan, where he studied with Kenneth Kiesler.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
