Portage District Library's interim director to stay on job

PORTAGE, MI - The new director of the Portage District Library is a familiar face. Christy Klien, who has been interim director of the library since January and has been at the Portage library since 1996, including head of youth services, was unanimously chosen the new director by the Portage District Library Board Monday night.

Portage District Library will consider internal staff for new director

PORTAGE, MI - The Portage District Library Board will not do a national search for a new director but will instead do an internal search only. A national search to replace long-time director Christine Berro, who retired Jan. 4 after 32 years with the library, 15 as director, had been considered by the board, said Betty Lee Ongley, Library Board chairwoman.
