Tuition costs for public colleges and universities are at a record high nationally while state funding to higher education is at its lowest level in 25 years, according to a national report released Wednesday.
A federal judge in Detroit is to hear arguments today in what could be a landmark case challenging Michigan's ban on same-sex marriage. April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse of Hazel Park are seeking to overturn the ban, which was written into the Michigan Constitution in 2004 after 59% of voters approved a ballot question limiting marriage to one man and one woman.
