Keith Hall is the host of "Jazz Currents" on WMUK. He is the professor of jazz drum set at Western Michigan University's School of Music.

Trumpeter Marcus Belgrave was born in 1936 in Chesterton PA.  His first big break was touring and recording with Ray Charles in 1954.  In the early 60's, after 5 years with Ray Charles, Belgrave moved to NYC and worked with jazz innovators including Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, Max Roach and Yusef Lateef.  In 1963, Belgrave moved to Detroit to work with many of the well-known jazz musicians there and also joined the staff at Motown Records.

Edye Evans Hyde, the 2011 West Michigan Jazz Society Musician of the Year, and her husband, guitarist Mike Hyde, are a Grand Rapids-based musical couple. In a recent interview, they tell Keith Hall about how they met in college at the Tiki Bar, when Edye filled in at the last minute for a singer who had the flu. They've performed together ever since.
