100% New Works From KLOrk & Birds On A Wire

Composer Richard Lavenda has known Western Michigan University music professor David Colson for almost 35 years. They met at Rice University in Texas, where Lavenda had joined the music faculty in the Shepherd School of Musicand Colson was pursuing a doctorate in music.  

 In a Bullock Performance Institute event at Western Michigan University this week, David Colson conducts a work by Richard Lavenda, Muse of Fire, with the new music ensemble Birds On A Wire. The concert also features the Kalamazoo laptop orchestra, KLOrk. The two friends discuss the concert with Cara Lieurance.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
