The Fontana Summer Festival continues tonight with a performance by the award-winning Aeolus Quartet, the graduate quartet-in-residence of The Juilliard School in New York City.
Quartet members Rachel Shapiro, Gregory Luce, and Alan Richardson spoke with Cara Lieurance and discussed the intense journey they've undergone. They began as undergraduates at the Cleveland Institute of Music, which led to advanced degrees at Juilliard and other schools, all while performing professionally and in competitions in an effort to launch the Aeolus Quartet as an innovative, top-flight group. Frequently asked to provide outreach in schools around the country, the members of Aeolus have become adept educators themselves.
Tonight's program at the Kalamazoo Nature Center features the music of Beethoven, Haydn, and Edwin Schulhoff.
