Area Events to Honor Martin Luther King Jr.

The community "day of service" and the annual convocation are among Monday's events in Kalamazoo to honor the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Junior . 

Monday is the holiday to honor King's work for equality and social justice. The city of Kalamazoois offering the opportunity for people to participate in various community service projects. 

The annual convocation will feature an address by the Reverend Wendell Anthony, President of the Detroit Chapter of the NAACP. It begins at 10:50 Monday morning in Stetson Chapel on the Kalamazoo College campus. 

Other events to Honor King include a march from Kanley Chapel on the WMU campus beginning at 3:30 to MLK Park in Kalamazoo. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
