The Kalamazoo Public School district has its largest number of students since 1980.

A news release from KPS says enrollment of pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students is over 13-thousand. The district says the growth is largely due to the Kalamazoo Promise. In the 11 years since the scholarship program was announced, the Kalamazoo school district has reported an increase in enrollment nine of those years.
