(MPRN-Lansing) A legislative committee heads to Flint Tuesday to hear from local officials and residents about the city’s water crisis.
City residents are still relying on filters and bottled water. Democratic state Senator Jim Ananich of Flint serves on the committee. He says committee members need to see what’s happening and hear from the people who are affected by the water crisis.
Ananich says people are still waiting for things to be fixed.
“I think it’s eye-opening for folks that aren’t from there to see the way people are living their lives and that not much has really changed.”
Most of the session will be devoted to public comment, although people will be limited to three minutes. The committee is also expected to hear from former Mayor Dayne Walling, and local health and water officials.
