Little Shop of Horrors Boasts Plum Roles For Young Leads

Katherine Nofs

Farmers Alley Theatre opens its eighth season on September 18th with the Alan Menken/Howard Ashman musical Little Shop of Horrors.  Lead actor Harrison Bryan laughingly describes the role of Seymour as "the Hamlet of musical theater," while Melody Ricketts calls playing Audrey "a dream come true."

During a wide-ranging discussion on the history and unusual features of Little Shop of Horrors, director Kathy Mulay and the two leads sing the praises of the rest of the cast, which includes Jeremy Koch as a sadistic dentist, Lou Price as Mr. Mushnik, and Stephen Anthony Grey as the voice of Audrey II.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
