John James will be the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate. Democrat Cathy Albro will challenge Republican Congressman Justin Amash. Kalamazoo County Commissioner Mike Seals holds on in tight race for Democratic Primary. 

John James will be the Republican nominee for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat. James defeated Sandy Pensler, and will now run against incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow in November. Stabenow has held the Senate seat since 2001. 

In Michigan’s 3rd U.S. House district Democrat Cathy Albro defeated Fred Wooden. The educator and small business owner will face four term Republican incumbent congressman Justin Amash in November.

Kalamazoo County Commissioner Mike Seals narrowly held off a Democratic primary challenge on Tuesday. Seals defeated Shequita Lewis by 113 votes.

Voters in the Mattawan Consolidated School District have approved a bond proposal to pay for demolishing three buildings. It will also fund building improvements and security upgrades.
