Schuette Chooses Posthumus Lyons as November Running Mate

Attorney General Bill Schuette has chosen Kent County Clerk Lisa Posthumus Lyons as his running mate for the November election. Schuette is the Republican nominee for governor. He won about 50 percent of his party’s vote in the primary.

If Schuette is successful in the general election, Lyons will be the state’s next Lieutenant Governor.

Schuette is a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump – and spent part of the primary accusing fellow candidates of not supporting the president enough.

Lyons pulled her support of the president during the 20-16 election saying Trump had not earned her respect or her vote. But now Lyons says she supports Trump and his policies.

"These are accomplishments that I support, and they’re accomplishments that America will support," she said.

Democratic candidate for governor Gretchen Whitmer has not announced her pick for running mate.
