Snyder Relentlessly Positive About Chinese Downturn While on Trade Mission to China

WMUK

Gov. Rick Snyder says China’s recent economic woes have not put a damper on his fifth trade mission to the country.

Snyder’s trip comes right as China’s stock market has taken a plunge. The governor downplayed the slump while speaking with Michigan Public Radio over the phone from China – calling it a “stock market correction.”

“That really hasn’t been a troubling topic on this trip at all,” said Snyder. “Things may be slowing down in China, but still it’s a very high growth rate compared to most of the rest of the world. And we’re all tied together in this economy.”

The governor says talks on strengthening automotive, agricultural, and tourism ties with China have gone well.
