State officials warned Parchment in 2002 about possible contamination in Wells. Governor Snyder doesn't want to talk politics or endorse a candidate for governor after Tuesday's primary. Perrigo plans to "separate" its pharmaceutical business.

(Kalamazoo Gazette) State officials warned Parchment 16 years ago that the city's water wells could be vulnerable to contamination. The Kalamazoo Gazette says the warning from the Department of Environmental Quality came in 2002. It said Parchment's water supply was "highly susceptible" to contamination. Late last month, high levels of chemicals known as PFAS's were found in Parchment's water system. The chemicals have been linked to cancers and other illnesses. Parchment is connecting its residents to Kalamazoo's water system for a year because of the problem.

Some households on the city of Kalamazoo’s water system are being advised to boil any water they plan to use for consumption. The advisory is being issued for residents in the area of Park Avenue between South Orient Street and Virginia Avenue and at the corner of South Orient Street and Glendale Boulevard. Health officials say work in the area is expected to cause a drop in water pressure.

(MPRN) In the wake of Tuesday’s primary, Governor Rick Snyder says he doesn’t want to talk politics. When reporters asked the Republican if he would endorse his party’s nominee for governor, Snyder said he’s “focused on being governor.” Attorney General Bill Schuette won the primary on Tuesday. He’s also prosecuting several members of Snyder’s administration for the Flint Water Crisis. Snyder backed Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley for the nomination. Calley came in second to Schuette.

Perrigo says it is separating its prescription pharmaceutical business from the rest of the company. Perrigo, which has its headquarters in Dublin, but most of its operations in Allegan, says the board is considering all options including a sale or merger. The company has hired Barclays as a financial advisor for the process. Perrigo officials say in a news release that separating the pharmaceutical part of the business will allow the company to focus on its over the counter store brand medications.

(WDET) The head of Oakland County’s government says he would rather be part of the Ku Klux Klan than join a group of Metro Detroit business executives…who say they are trying to promote new investment across the region. Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson charges that a group of CEO’s in Southeast Michigan are trying to “snatch” new business investment away from Oakland County and direct it towards revitalizing Detroit. The County Executive said he’d “rather join the Klan” than work with the group. Patterson later apologized for what he called a poor choice of words.
