Governor Whitmer could soon sign legislation allowing public employees to administer opioid overdose treatments. A Flint hospital disputes the state’s findings about a connection to legionella exposure. The Bombers winning streak ends. The Growlers losing streak continues.

(MPRN) A bill on its way to Governor Gretchen Whitmer would allow many public employees to administer opioid overdose treatments. That’s after being trained to administer the drug. The problem is people addicted to opioids often hang out in libraries and other places open to the public, and they sometimes overdose with fatal results. The goal of the bill is to allow employees to be trained to administer Narcan or another opioid antagonist without risking legal action.

(WCMU) The state is once again ordering McLaren Flint hospital to address conditions that state officials say could put patients at risk of legionella exposure. McLaren Flint has already been the subject of investigations in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and the state has repeatedly tried to link an uptick in legionnaires cases to conditions at the hospital. State officials are asking the hospital to comply with water restrictions, data requests, public health investigations and official department recommendations. McLaren Flint has repeatedly disputed the state’s claims saying that the uptick in legionnaires cases correspond to increases in legionnaires across the county - not just at the hospital. Hospital officials said they’re reviewing the state’s order and exploring possible legal action against the state.

In baseball, Battle Creek lost to Kenosha Sunday 3-2. The loss snapped the Bombers three game winning streak. The two teams will play again Monday night at C.O Brown Stadium.
