A coalition of veterans groups is putting pressure on Republicans in Congress to support the impeachment of President Donald Trump. That includes Representative Fred Upton of Saint Joseph.
The group called Defend American Democracy is running a TV ad to get its message out. It features several military veterans saying that they upheld their oath to "support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Now the group says it's time for Upton and other Republicans in the House to do the same.
Retired Army medic Jason Hurd of Massachusetts, who served in combat in Iraq in 2005 and 2006, is one of the veterans featured in the ad.

"If we did a fraction of what Donald Trump has done while he's been in office, we would be put in military prison for the rest of our lives. So, we're just holding Donald Trump to the same standard that every other American is put to, which is: obey the law."
Air Force veteran John Gregory of Portage is not in the ad. But Gregory says he strongly supports that Defend American Democracy is doing.
"I want to be part of that. I want to make sure that our Congressman Upton, I am a constituent, that he's addressing these issues and taking his oath to the Constitution and to defend the Constitution seriously."
Upton's office says that although he has question's about the president's conduct, he does not support the impeachment process launched by the Democratic majority in the House.
