WMU Names New Provost

Ball State University

Western Michigan University's new provost is coming to Kalamazoo from Indiana. The university announced Thursday, May 17, that Jennifer Bott will become Western's top academic official July 1st.

Bott is now the dean of the business school at Ball State University in Muncie. She will replace former WMU provost Tim Greene, who went back to the faculty at Western's College of Engineering. Graduate College Dean Susan Stapleton has been filling since since Greene left.

Western President Edward Montgomery says Bott brings a "strong background in teaching, research, community engagement."

Bott has been at Ball State since 2004. She's also served as its assistant and then associate provost for learning initiatives. Bott is also a professor of management who's studied several areas, including generational diversity in the workplace and the relationships between human resources and social media. She also developed a program to fight childhood obesity in Indiana with NFL quarterback Peyton Manning.
