Western Michigan University’s president's pay is going up. Western’s Board of Trustees voted on Wednesday to increase President Edward Montgomery’s salary by 2.5 percent retroactive to July. That brings Montgomery’s annual pay to $461, 250.

The Trustees lauded Montgomery for his achievements in his first year as Western’s leader. That includes new building plans for the university’s south campus, hiring new executive leaders and expanding Western’s peer- mentorship program.
