KALAMAZOO, MI -- Western Michigan University officials are urging "caution and vigilance" after an armed robbery in a dorm Thursday afternoon. A student was robbed of several personal belongings in a room on the fourth floor of Smith-Burnham Hall at around 3 p.m. Thursday, according to a WMU news release. (Kalamazoo Gazette)

KALAMAZOO, MI - In the six months since he moved from Bangalore, India, to enroll at Kalamazoo College, Tanush Jagdish said he has found the campus to be one that is inclusive, a good learning environment for an international student. But Jagdish said that all changed for him late Tuesday as he learned of a racist, anti-Semitic Internet posting that included a threat to shoot faculty at the school.

(MPRN-Lansing) People who attack sports referees would face tougher penalties under legislation in the state Senate. Under the bills, a person would face up to three years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000 for attacking a referee.
