Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley has declared a state of disaster for Kalamazoo County in the wake of PFAS being discovered in the Parchment water system.

Residents in the city of Parchment and those in Cooper Township on the Parchment water system are being told not to drink the water after elevated levels of PFAS were discovered Thursday.

(Update: Saturday, June 16, at 8:30 p.m.) The City of Battle Creek has lifted the drinking water advisory. City officials say 52 samples taken in various parts of the city found only four that had levels of manganese above those set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The say the four that were higher came from the Verona wellfield from sources that do not feed directly into the city's water supply.

(MPRN-Lansing) People from Flint interrupted a state legislative session Wednesday to demand clean drinking water. They’re upset with the recent decision by Governor Rick Snyder’s administration to stop distributing free bottled water in the city. 


(MPRN-Lansing) Nestle will be able to increase the amount of water it can take from a well in West Michigan. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality approved the petition Monday.
