The Kalamazoo City Commission has warmed to a proposal from the Kalamazoo Growlers baseball team to set fireworks off at certain games. Last month commissioners had voted to approve only two of six planned displays pending further discussion.

On Monday night Growlers Vice President Brian Colopy assured the Board that this year’s fireworks would be smaller, quieter and more contained than last summer’s.

"The Kalamazoo Growlers are excited to announce the hiring of Matt Lawson as Field Manager for the 2016 season. The graduate assistant coach for Missouri State University will begin his third season of coaching after a seven-year professional career." (Kalamazoo Growlers news release)

"KALAMAZOO, MI –Two high scoring affairs for the teams that are included in the I-94 rivalry in Thursday’s doubleheader, Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, but in the end Battle Creek came score more and swept the Growlers." (Growlers' website)

"KALAMAZOO, MI –Two games, two Mallard home runs. Two games, two Growler losses. Unlike the close 3-2 loss to Madison yesterday, Kalamazoo was blown out 6-1 to fall to 14-46 and one loss closer to the worst record in Northwoods League History." (Growlers' website)
