An Allegan County state lawmaker wants to pull federal funding from Planned Parenthood in Michigan.

The Gongwer News Service says Rep. Cindy Gamrat (R-Plainwell) plans to introduce a bill to block funding for the agency. That follows a national controversy over fetal tissue research. But Planned Parenthood officials in Michigan say the real issue is the health services it provides.

"Washington — Four senior Republicans on the U.S. House panel on Energy & Commerce, including Chairman Fred Upton of St. Joseph, say they will investigate an undercover video that raises questions about how Planned Parenthood handles the harvesting of fetal tissue and related activities."
