Randall Wins Portage Mayor's Race

Portage has a new mayor. Unofficial results of Tuesday's election show Patricia Randall defeating fellow City Council member Nasim Ansari 4,235 votes to 3,628. Randall must resign her Council seat to take the mayor's position. Ansari will also leave the City Council because his seat was up for election. It will be taken by newcomer Lori Knapp. Incumbents Claudette Reid and Terry Urban won new four terms.

The 2017 Portage City Council Race

On November 7, voters in the City of Portage will select a new mayor and fill three seats on the City Council. WMUK invited the candidates to speak at a public forum at the Portage District Library on Wednesday, October 4, in cooperation with the Institute for Government and Politics at Western Michigan University's Department of Political Science.
