At 2 pm on Sunday, Dec 6, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival will release the next online concert in its Piano Masters series. Yefim Bronfman, an Israeli-American pianist born in Uzbekistan, will perform music of Beethoven and Debussy. Cara Lieurance spoke with Pierre Van Der Westhuizen, the executive director of The Gilmore, for a preview of Bronfman's special gifts as a pianist.

One thing that makes Tchaikovsky great, according to pianist Yefim Bronfman, is the nobility with which he expresses emotional vulnerability. Bronfman will perform the famous composer's rarely-heard Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra in its season-opening concert. In an interview with Cara Lieurance, he discusses other qualities that make Tchaikovsky one of the best composers Russia ever produced.
