The drug company Cephalon will compensate the State of Michigan $3.4 million as part of a multi-state fraud settlement. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office made that announcement Friday.
The company paid off manufacturers to delay generics of their drug Provigil - which is used to treat narcolepsy and sleep apnea. As a result, people with those conditions have been forced to pay higher prices for the prescription for years. Cephalon will pay $125 million in the settlement nationwide.
