A Kalamazoo City Commissioner violated state campaign finance reporting rules. A Battle Creek couple makes a donation to support a program to welcome immigrants to the city. A federal court ruling says Great Lakes gray wolves will remain on the endangered species list, but Congress could allow for wolves to be hunted.

State elections officials say Kalamazoo City Commissioner Matt Milcarek violated campaign finance rules because he was late filing reports on donations and spending during his 2015 commission race. Milcarek is not running for re-election this year. (Kalamazoo Gazette)

A Battle Creek couple has made a donation that they hope will end the controversy over a program to welcome immigrants to the city. John and Marilyn Doty made a 200-dollar donation that would cover the annual membership fee for “Welcoming America.” (Battle Creek Enquirer)

A federal appeals court has ruled that gray wolves in the Western Great Lakes region will remain on the endangered species list. But Congress could approve legislation that allows for the hunting of wolves. (Detroit News)
