On this week's WestSouthwest, we hear about about college funding, food sustainability and what Michigan voters want in an election year.

The Policy Director for the Michigan League for Public Policy Karen Holcomb-Merrill discusses a recent report on funding for higher education. It finds that most states haven't brought funding back to levels they were before the 2008 recession. But Michigan's cuts were deeper than 37 other states.

Food sustainability expert Arlin Wasserman was in Kalamazoo last week to speak at the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Foundation's Education for Opportunities Dinner. He sat down with WMUK's Gordon Evans to discuss changes in the food industry, and its impact on health, the environment and the economy.

The Center for Michiganhas released Michigan Speaks: The citizens' agenda for the 2014 elections. The center's Outreach Coordinator Dwayne Barnes and CEO John Bebow discuss what they have found voters want from elected officials.
