On WestSouthwest, the United Way for the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region sets long-term goals for some issues in Southwest Michigan. And the possible "Trump effect" in one Kalamazoo area State House race. 

  

The United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region recently released its community goals to address issues of education, health and income inequality. Executive Vice President Chris Sargent says it's a long-term effort to address complex problems. He says that means the solutions won't be simple. 

Republican leaders are concerned about what Donald Trump's likely nomination for President may mean for other GOP candidates. Gongwer News Service Editor Zach Gorchow tells us why one state House race in Southwest Michigan may indicate whether Trump is going to be a "drag" on other Republican candidates.
