On WestSouthwest, the Kalamazoo Public Safety Department says the Group Violence Initiative is helping to reduce gun crime in the city. And the Citizens Research Council of Michigan spells out the tough decisions that are looming to balance the state budget.

Kalamazoo's Group Violence Initiative seeks to reduce the gun crime related to "street groups" in the city. Kalamazoo Public Safety Captain David Boysen explains how community groups and law enforcement are working together to offer help to members of groups and focus on reducing gun crimes. 

The Citizens Research Council of Michigan has released a report on the state's budget future. CRC President Eric Lupher tells us why tough spending decisions are looming in the near future for Michigan.
