Senate Panel Approves Emergency Funding For Flint

MPRN

A state Senate panel approved $28 million in emergency funding to help address the water crisis in Flint. The panel added a provision to guarantee that all Flint kids under the age of three have access to early developmental screenings paid for by the state. It also scaled back money for bottled water, citing the large amount of bottled water donations and that the state gets a discount on water bottles through FEMA. That money would instead be spent on health assessments. The state Senate could vote on the funding as soon as Thursday.
