The third Kalamazoo Marathon is being run this weekend as part of the Borgess Run for the Health of It.
WMUK's Gordon Evans asked Marathon Director Blaine Lam about any additional security for the race after the bombing at the Boston Marathon.
Lam says there will be some additional presence, but he says there has always been emergency preparedness for the Kalamazoo Marathon for weather and other problems that could develop during a large event in the downtown area.
Lam says the event has grown in the number of participants, volunteers and spectators. He says there will be runners from all 50 states in Kalamazoo this weekend. He says 69 people plan to run in the Wisconsin Marathon on Saturday and then the Kalamazoo Marathon on Sunday.
The marathon course runs through the downtown area and through some Kalamazoo neighborhoods. Lam says that allows the race to show off the community and serve as a showcase for Kalamazoo.
