The 30th season of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck continues this week with a serenade by Dohnanyi, Mozart's Horn Quintet, and a string quintet by Brahms, played by a variety west Michigan classical artists. Arturo Ziraldo, principal violist of the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra, will serve as violist in all three works on the program. He previewed the music on the program with Cara Lieurance.
Ziraldo, himself the director of the Heartside Harmony Chamber Music Society, talks about the power of chamber music to make a direct connection between the performer and the listener. He also highlights the viola-centric features of the program, citing the close inner harmonies used to luxurious effect in the Mozart and Brahms.
Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck concerts are held Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 pm at the Woman's Club of Saugatuck. For more information, visit the festival's website.
