Here's What's Happening At the Barn Theatre This Summer

Resident director and Barn Theatre alum Hans Friedrichs, and actor/director/alum and box office manager Patrick Hunter bring a wealth of knowledge about the Barn Theatreand its upcoming 73rd season to their WMUK interview.  On June 1 at 8 pm, the theatre will hold its Opening Gala, which will include singing and dancing highlights from upcoming productions, and the unveiling of a Wall of Fame. 

Here are the upcoming productions. The Barn Theatre is located on Highway M-96 between Augusta and Galesburg.

Disaster! June 4 – 9. A comic homage to classic disaster films.

Love, Lies and the Doctor’s Dilemma June 11 – 16 A new farce.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee June 18 – 30. An eclectic group of mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship.

Sweeney Todd, Starring Robert Newman and Penelope Alex- July 2 – 14 The Tony Award-winning musical tale of love, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of 19th century London. 

Big the Musical  July 16 – 28 Based on the classic 1987 motion picture.

Steel Magnolias, with Kim Zimmer, Lori Moore and Jennifer Furney. July 30 – August 11

Mamma Mia August 13 – 25 A feel-good musical based on the songs of ABBA.

Evil Dead: The Musical – August 27 – September 1 A bloody comedy start to finish.
