The state house has passed a set of bills that would provide the government with money for fixing roads and bridges. That’s according to Gongwer News Service, which reports the proposed legislation would deliver about $450 million to the state’s infrastructure projects each year.
Most of that amount would be raised by pulling money from fuel sales and use taxes out of the general fund.
Supporters of the package say it’s a “good first step.” But the amount is well short of the one to two billion dollars Governor Rick Snyder says the state needs to spend for Michigan’s roads to stay in good repair.
