Voters in Kalamazoo County have approved the renewal of a county-wide transit millage. A $62-million bond proposal for Kalamazoo Public Schools has passed.

Kalamazoo County Transit Authority Chairwoman Linda Teeter told WMUK's Gordon Evans that approval of the transit millage is another step toward creating a countywide regional transit system. She says a county wide system could lead to extended hours, limited Sunday service and eventually connecting with adjoining counties.

Mlive Kalamazoo has a rundown of the results and how voters approved tax proposals in many school districts throughout Southwest Michigan.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports voters approved a renewal of a tax for Battle Creek Public Schools to pay for facilities upkeep. It had been rejected in November. Voters in the Pennfield district rejected a similar request.

The Holland Sentinel reports that voters in Holland and Zeeland Charter Townships have rejected a levy for a West Michigan Airport Authority. It's the second time voters have turned it down.
