Emerson Quartet To Play Haydn, Ravel, Shostakovich In Kalamazoo

The Emerson String Quartet opens the 2014/15 Fontanaseason with a program of Haydn, Ravel, and Shostakovich. Violinist Eugene Drucker describes the character of each piece, and offers historical perspective on the musical trends that affected each composer.

Since it was founded at The Juilliard School over three decades ago, the Emerson String Quartet has maintained a position at the top of the music world, garnering nine Grammy awards, and recording over 30 albums. An ensemble-in-residence at Stony Brook University, the Emersons tour the globe on a regular basis.
