The next Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra concert will be held in the beautiful and surprisingly intimate Chenery Auditorium, a perfect place to hear Schubert's 5th Symphony, incidental music to Much Ado About Nothing by Korngold, and a great American guitar concerto by the prolific film composer Elmer Bernstein. who wrote it for his friend Christopher Parkening. Conductor Daniel Brier and soloist Pablo Sainz-Villegas, winner of the 2006 Parkening International Guitar Competition, share all kinds of behind-the-scenes information about the works on the program and how they prepared for the concert, which will be held Saturday at 8 pm, and include both a Prelude talk and Afterwords, a post-concert social hour with the musicians.
