Two New Faces In The Legislature This Week

Cheyna Roth

(MPRN-Lansing) When the Legislature reconvenes next week, two new faces will be added to the state House of Representatives.

The Democrats in the House kept their numbers after the recent special election. Now, two women will be taking over for former Representatives Brain Banks and John Kevila.

Sara Cambensy will come in from the Marquette area. She says she wants to pull people together from both sides of the aisle.

“I really feel like most people are mad and angry that government’s not working for them, but they’re made about the same things.”

Tenisha Yancey will take over a Detroit area district.

“I’ve always been passionate about public services. I’ve been a public servant for over thirteen years. So that was one of the things that I thought would make me an ideal candidate for that role.”

Yancey wants to focus on education and criminal justice reform.
