Kalamazoo Attorney Recommends Waiting Before Allowing Marijuana Businesses

Greyson Steele

The Kalamazoo City Commission is considering a temporary ban on recreational marijuana businesses.

They held a special meeting on the issue Monday night. City Attorney Clyde Robinson says the city should wait at least a year while the state sorts out questions after Michigan voters legalized recreational marijuana last fall. Robinson says the state could begin approving licenses for recreational marijuana businesses as soon as September first.

Kalamazoo City commissioners say they’ll continue their discussions on recreational marijuana in the coming weeks and make a decision sometime this summer.
