Over the next year and a half, changes are coming to downtown Kalamazoo. But the city, the Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership, and Consumers Energy say the central city will remain open for business despite all of the construction.
Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership President Andrew Haan says the city must get through short-term pain for long-term gains. He says the planned projects will bring about 500 new residents to the downtown area and add $5-million dollars to the city's economy each year. He says officials want to minimize the effect of downtown construction on residents, businesses, and visitors with frequent updates online.
