Cara Lieurance talks to Colwyn Hoard, a junior majoring in music composition at Western Michigan University, and guest conductor Andrew Koehler, in a preview of the University Symphony Orchestra's upcoming concert on Saturday, Feb 16 in Chenery Auditorium, 8 pm. Hoard says he has been composing pieces since middle school, and expresses appreciation for the teachers who gave him extra time and opportunities to pursue writing music. His work, Detachment, will get its premiere on Saturday, after eight months of work and revision.
The concert will also feature the Rhapsody on Moldovan Themes, and Dvorak's Symphony No. 7.
