Kalamazoo Civic Theatre Presents "Leaving Iowa" - Senior Class Reader's Theatre
The Senior Class Reader’s Theatre is comprised of veteran performers (age 50 and over), who perform learned but not memorized lines. This comedic salute to childhood vacations may just turn out to be the funniest family road trip you’ve taken in years. Don Browning, a middle-aged writer, returns home and decides to finally take his father’s ashes to his childhood home, as requested. But when Don discovers Grandma’s house is now a grocery store, he begins traveling across Iowa in search of a proper resting place for his father. This father-and-son road trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don’s memories of the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood. This existential journey leads Don to reconcile his past and present at the center of the United States. Produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois
